I hate it when my friends and I go in for a cuppa and see that every table for four is taken over by some douche who thinks that having a Macbook means he deserves the biggest table and three extra chairs. They aren't telling you how to live, S, they're telling you that their shop isn't your home, and maybe they'd rather you not camp out there like it is (God knows we have enough Starbucks wannabes in this city already). But at this moment I am happy that they have everything else. Most coffee shops in Toronto don't have wifi unless you pay for it. This is very different from Seattle where there are tons of successful coffee houses that all have wifi and manage to integrate people coming for a social experience and people that are working independently. And besides, these people that are there on their computers clearly want to be part of the scene, otherwise they would have stayed home.
