yahoo… more fantastic coffee!

Lit Espresso Bar just opened up on Roncesvalles a couple of weeks ago. They use the same killer beans that Manic and Crema use. They also provide WiFi, like Crema - what a luxury. Plus… the decor is rather fabulous, dare I say, with lots of reclaimed wood, a reclaimed clock from a German train station and reclaimed chairs from the old Eaton’s Cafe (where I used to eat grilled cheese sandwiches with my Grandma). And to top it off, the panini and baked goods they serve are tasty too.
It’s nice to have a top-tier coffee shop open up on Roncesvalles that provides a place to sit and read the paper or use their free wifi. There are not a lot of sockets, but I’m OK with that. It will limit people camping out for more than 3 hours at a time. Yahoo!

crawl around the art
The Queen West Art Crawl is this weekend. Saturday and Sunday between 11am - 6pm, numerous artists will be displaying and selling their works in Trinity Bellwoods Park. Galleries between Spadina and Roncesvalles will be exhibiting for the crawl. Buskers and musicians will be playing in the streets.
Let’s hope the weather is nice for the event!
pizza… good but what a line!

Ossington gained a pizza joint a few weeks ago, Pizzeria Libretto. Seems like everyone already knows, since the line-up is insane.
I did get manage to get my hands on some pizza though. It was quite yummy. So it should be, with the chef from Silver Spoon behind the wheel of a fancy-pants oven imported from Italy, and recipes in keeping with Italian pizza traditions.
Pizzeria Libretto seems to have picked up where Terroni left off… good pizza, nice decor and lines when you don’t expect them…

oddfellows

The latest project from Castor Design : OddFellows has just opened up on the corner of Shaw & Queen St. W. This “modern lodge” is now serving dinner from 6pm onward with drinks late into the evening. The place is well worth checking out for it’s design alone — not to mention the tasty fare Matt has created.
They are open from Tuesday to Saturday for dinner and Sundays for brunch.

care to join for some ethiopian?

One of the many fantastic things about this city is the abundance of restaurants making every cuisine imaginable. I have really taken to Ethiopian food lately. It consists of a number of flavourful dishes served on a big sourdough-like pancake. You then pinch the food with the pancake - no need to get any utensils dirty. Just use those fingers that your momma gave you.
Lalibela is a fine place to sample Ethiopian dishes - located on Bloor Street just east of Ossington on the south side of the street.
Try it… you might like it!
